Today was a normal work day for me, but normal only in the sense that I was doing work. The conference itself doesn’t actually start until tomorrow. Mailchimp has a couple of remote offices and one of them is in Oakland, CA. I came in on Sunday with the goal of spending Monday at our California office and getting to know my California coworkers. To that end, I think the day has been a success. I was able to have lunch with one of my Oakland teammates and I’m hoping there will be a few people who want to grab dinner later today.
I have high hopes for Google Next this year. Last year was good but I was still very new to Google’s cloud products. Since last year, Mailchimp has started to do more experimentation with their cloud products and services and I feel that I’ve also grown a bit in my technical understanding in various areas. I’m hoping that this will allow me to absorb more, understand more deeply, the topics that are discussed.
For now, I’m going to go find some food. I’ll be back tomorrow with a day two report!
